What does a typical day look like for you?

My typical day starts with coffee, of course. I have a digital to-do list that I prioritize and work through, taking phone calls and responding to emails throughout the day. My correspondence with clients can range from anything from simple car changes to questions on homeowners insurance claims.  Usually, throughout the week, I am working on remarketing existing accounts with our carriers as well as processing changes, auto ID cards, and evidence of insurance as needed. I also occasionally go out to Skylight Financial, a financial planning firm in Cleveland. On these meetings, I provide advice and insight on their clients’ existing insurance while also seeing if we might be able to provide a good fit for them with one of our insurance carriers.

How did you get started in the insurance industry?

I started right out of college. I decided to not go to grad school and wanted to start working instead. Insurance is something that I just sort of fell into. I am a detail-oriented person, and insurance turned out to be a great fit for me.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Telling a client that we can reduce their premium while providing them with broader coverage.

When you are not working, what are your favorite hobbies?

My favorite hobbies are cooking, hiking at Cuyahoga Valley National Park, reading, and traveling. This summer I am going to Zion National Park in Utah.

What is one thing you would like people to know about the insurance industry?

Insurance is very detail oriented and can be complicated. It’s usually not as simple as commercials and ads on TV make it out to be.
